Good Morning Family!!
Everything we say has power to give life or death to things around us. God has given us dominion over all things. Even when we speak life into things and don't see what we want we are to continue to speak life no matter what!
We have been looking for a calf for our eldest daughter to raise and show in our local 4-H program. We have been looking for the last couple months to no avail. We were coming up to crunch time as the possession of the calf has to be by June 2nd. My husband, Brian and daughter had been going to local auctions looking for said calf to find none or ones out of our price range. Each time they went we said and believed they would find a calf. Then yesterday was the last auction and chance to get a calf and Brian wasn't able to take our daughter to the sale, so I did. Now mind you I didn't know what I was looking for and never bought anything at an auction. My dad offered to take us and help which was perfect!
Before we left I was talking with Brian on the phone, getting all the details and figuring out the budget. I said to Brian, "I am speaking a calf for our daughter, at a low price, and that it would be a nice one; Brian agreed and Amened (so be it!). We got to the auction early to see what they had for bottle and feeder calves. Once again not much was there. We came up to this one pen of bottle calves, mainly dairy but we needed beef, but in this pen was a nice white bull calf that stood out. Our daughter was like I will be the only one with a white calf! Mind you the sale hadn't started yet and she was speaking out that this was her calf! I wrote down the calf's sale number and a few other second options then we went to get our seats in the sale arena. As we were waiting my dad was helping me figure out the sale board and how much I could bid per pound so I wouldn't go over budget (we were guessing the bulls weight). Dad is good at numbers and guessing weight! While waiting I was excited because there didn't seem to be very many buyers there, but that change as the sale started and more buyers came in. Beside and in front of us were 2 stock buyers. I noticed that a few of the crossbred calves were going higher than our budget would allow. I was starting to get nervous and anxious about bidding, my heart felt like it was racing at 2 different times, I got shaky in my hands, and all I could do was sit and pray that would get the white bull calf. As each pen of calves came through the sale ring, I noticed that some of our second-choice calves came through. Then finally the white bull calf came into the ring and the bidding started above our budget. The bidding started to slowly (what seemed slow in the moment, actually happened quickly) come down and I was able to throw my bidding number up. the auctioneer kept point to the bidders who were holding the highest bid. Then he point at me and was trying to get the other bidders to go higher and no one did. Sold! I was the winning bid and you could definitely tell I was the newbie buyer! I was so excited I turned to our daughter and said we got your calf!
I tell you all this to say we had positive thoughts in our heart (Matthew 12:34-35) and were speaking life into what we wanted to happen, even though what we had been seeing and experiencing was trying to tell us otherwise. We are as He is (1 John 4:17), we are life giving spirits ( 1 Corinthians 15:45).
Secondly God set it up that some of our second choice calves to sell first teaching me(us) that He wants what we want and only the first choice(best) no second choices required. This reminds me that each one of us is His first choice (Romans 8:29)! God doesn't have a back-up plan!
