Ping!

Oh, the sound of a ping is exciting! We planted a garden this year and grew some vegetables to prepare for winter. We also picked wild black raspberries, we were given some blueberries and purchased peaches for jams.

I remember helping my mom in the garden and canning the harvest as a little girl. When the pressure canner finished mom would remove the jars and let them cool. As the jars cooled, they would seal causing the lid to sink and make a ping sound. The ping was a confirmation that the jar was sealed and could be stored to used later on.

I never realized till I started canning as an adult for our family how excited I am to hear that ping when I am processing food. When I hear the ping, I say yay that's one, that's two, etc. When I first started doing that our girls asked that's one what, and I would explain. So now our girls help keep track of the pings!

Teaching our children leaves a legacy. I still call and ask my mom canning questions. We are never done learning or teaching the dynamic of the learning and teaching just changes.

This was my first making homemade pizza sauce! I used Mrs. Wages Pizza Sauce canning mix, which can be found on Amazon, link below.
